Cagayan Valley & Isabela (Aug 15-17, 2013) DAY 2 & 3

DAY 2 - August 16,2013

TUGUEGARAO CITY CATHEDRAL, CALLAO CAVE OF PENABLANCA. and a side trip to TUMAUINI & CABAGAN ISABELA.





                                   

St. Peter and Paul Metropolitan Cathedral

Historic site St. Peter and Paul Metropolitan Cathedral in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Cagayan Valley, Philippines. Built in 1767, by Spanish Colonialist and was constructed under the supervision of Fr. Antonio Lobato, OP on January 17, 1761 to 1767 . The church has been damaged during World War 2 and restored after by Bishop Constace Jurgens.

Callao Cave

Callao Cave is a cave with seven chambers located on the Province of Cagayan, in the Philippines. It is one of the best known tourist attractions of the province. It is located in Barangays Magdalo and Quibal, PeƱablanca, near Tuguegarao City, the capital city of the Province of Cagayan.

From Callao Cave we headed back to Tuguegarao City and had Lunch at KAINAN FILIPINO RESTO (Buffet) (199 @)


Went to TUMAUINI, ISABELA (after lunch), we took VICTORY LINER BUS (just a few steps from KAINAN FILIPINO) bound to Cubao. We opted to ride the bus because we found it more comfortable than the Van flying route from Isabela to Tuguegarao and vice versa.

-- Visited Municipal Hall, on the other side you will found the TREE HOUSE.

-- Visited Old Tumauin Church (just next to Town Hall)
First build of light materials by Francisco Nunez O. P., and dedicated to the Patron Saint, 1707. Separated from Cabagan and became a regular parish in 1751. The Roman Catholic Church was erected by the Dominican in 1753. They were made of bricks and coral stones with unique cylindrical bell tower, the only of its kind in the Philippines was constructed by Fr. Domingo Forto in 1793 and completed on 1805, became the capital of Isabela for sometimes in 1880′s. The Church was partly damaged during World War II and repaired into original form by the faithful of Tumauini.

Our next stop. The Town of CABAGAN  (the next town from Tumauini if you're going to Tuguegarao City).

-- Snacks - Josie's Panciteria. We tried the famous pansit CABAGAN, its good, taste so great (a must try to eat), their PAKBET  is also good... yummy.

After exploring at TUMAUINI and CABAGAN on  the Province of Isabela, we went back Tuguegarao City. Before we headed to our hotel, we went to Paseo Rizal Mall and bought our Souvenir T-shirts.  (any variety cost Php200@.)


HOW TO GET THERE

1. From Ivory Hotel (Buntun), ride a tricycle going to St. Peter & Paul Cathedral (Fare 10@).
2. From St. Peter & Paul Cathedral, hire a tricycle going to Callao Cave, Penablanca (Fare 600-700 round trip from Tuguegarao City)
3. Cross a Pinacanauan River going to Callao Cave (Fare 10@, oneway)
4. From Callao Cave, back to Tuguegarao City, lunch at Kainan Filipino (Buffet 199per head)

Going  to the TOWN of TUMAUINI and CABAGAN of Isabela Province
5. A few meters away from Kainan Filipino is the Victory Liner bus bound to Cubao (Fare 60-100@)
6. Alight at HBG School, Tumauini. Take a walk going to St. Matthias Church.. There are tricycles, but you may prefer to take a walk.
7. Within the vicinity, you will also find the Town Hall.
8. From Tumauini, take a Van going to Cabagan (Fare 25@)
9. Alight from Cabagan Highway, take a tricycle going to Town Proper (St. Paul Apostle Church, Town Plaza and Town Hall)   (Fare 10@)
10. From Town Proper, take a tricycle going to Josie's Panciteria (located at Cabagan Highway) (Fare 10@)
11. From Cabagan (Josie's Panciteria) back to Tuguegarao City, take a Van (Fare 35@)
12. From Tuguegarao City back to Ivory Hotel (Fare: Special Trip 50php)




DAY - 3  AUGUST 17, 2013

At around 7:00AM went to market to buy the best Longanisa in town. (Tuguegarao Longanisa) and some delicacies like PAWA  and  BINALAY. (must try)

At 10:00AM we headed to the airport  for our 11:25AM flight to manila via CEBU PACIFIC AIRLINES. We were provided a FREE shuttle service by Ivory Hotel.



At the airport a sidewalk vendor offered us to buy his Roasted Peanut (P120.00 per pack) and Carabao Candy Milk (3 pack for P100). Both taste so good.
