Cagayan Valley & Isabela (Aug 15-17, 2013) DAY 1

 DAY 1 - Tuguegarao City  8/15/2013

We departed NAIA 3 at around 11:30 AM via CEBU PACIFIC AIRLINES.

12:15NN we arrived  at Tuguegarao City Airport (15mins earlier on the original schedule).

Upon arrival at Tuguegarao City we plan to look for a hotel first where we can check in.  IVORY HOTEL  was one of our choices (as we searched on the internet for  the good hotel where we can stay for the entire days of our vacation). Fortunately, we chance upon to see the shuttle service of the hotel at the airport parking lot, and as we approached the driver, he said, they really offer a FREE shuttle service to their guests (ooh, that was great).

We arrived at the hotel at around 1PM.

Ivory Hotel

The hotel offers  a very affordable and clean rooms. It only cost us P1300.00 per night for the air conditioned room with 1 queen bed and 2 single beds, hot and cold shower and cable TV.

After we checked in at the hotel, we headed to JOMAR'S PANCITERIA at Buntun for our late lunch (2PM) just a few minutes tricycle ride, and  at last, we can now taste the famous Pansit Batil Patung of Tuguegarao City.

super special, cost P70.00 per order

Now... After recharging and getting some energy from that wonderful Pansit.. It was time to EXPLORE at TUGUEGARAO CITY.

 Our first stop... BUNTUN BRIDGE.

Buntun Bridge is a river bridge from Tuguegarao City proper. It is the second longest bridge in the country and offers an unobstructed view of the Cagayan River.[1] This 1.098 km-long bridge links Tuguegarao City to the 2nd and 3rd District Municipalities of Cagayan Province & the Apayao Province.[2] Buntun Bridge is considered as the longest river bridge in the Philippinnes. It stretches from Tuguegarao City to Solana, Cagayan and spans over the Cagayan River, the largest river basin in the Philippines.

From Buntun Bridge, we took a tricycle ride going to TUGUEGARAO METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL or STS. PETER AND PAUL CATHEDRAL.

The seat of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao. The church with belfry is the biggest Spanish-built church in Cagayan Valley, constructed under the supervision of Fr. Antonio Lobato, OP on June 17, 1761 to 1767 (Cagayan Souvenir Program, 1968). The cathedral suffered massive destruction in WW II and was rebuilt by Msgr. Bishop Constance Jurgens. It is considered as one the of the most beautiful works of art in the country and the world today. Its picture appears at Rome Basilica.

From the Cathedral, we hired a tricycle to take us to CITY HALL.

Then to THE PROVINCE CAPITOL.

Our last destination... ERMITA DE SAN JACINTO CHAPEL.

San Jacinto Ermita Church (St. Hyacinth Church) or Ermita de Piedra de San Jacinto in TUGUEGARAO CITY is an Spanish built elevated chapel whose construction dates back from 1604-1724.

From Ermita de San Jacinto Chapel going to City Plaza, we tried to ride... KALESA.

Aside from Tricycle, KALESA is one of the main means of transportation around the city.

After those tiring City Tour.... It was time again to recharge.

We stopped at the very well known CROWN BAKESHOP  for some snacks. And we tried their best seller, Bukobingka, Pianono, Bavarian, and their own version of CLUB HOUSE SANDWICH.
