DAVAO CITY TOUR... AUG. 24 -26 2012

 DAVAO CITY

AUG. 24-26 2012

DAY - 1 Aug. 24, 2012

We daparted NAIA 3 around 430AM via AIR PHILIPPINES EXPRESS.

Arrived at Davao International Airport at around 5:55AM.

Our first destination...SAMAL ISLAND, at  ISLAND PARADISE BEACH RESORT for a day tour.  From the Airport,  we hired a taxi going to resort's  dock  where their  ferry boat  stationed.  From there we reached the island for about 5-10 minutes.

We knew that this will be a very exciting tour because it was our first time to be at the island, so we took our breakfast first at the seaside to revatalize.

Now  time to roam around... From the gate of the resort, there are lots of HABAL-HABAL offering a ride and the driver will serve as  your tour guide.  As first timer, we were so hesitant for our safety.  But since we don't have any choice because it was the only service that can help us to go around. So, GO.... we just considered it as part of our adventure.

Our first stop, the MONFORT BAT CAVE.

Montfort Bat Sanctuary has been the home of a large colony of 1.8 million Rousette fruit bats since recorded history.[1] They cover 75% of the ceilings and walls of their 245 ft (75 m)-long cave.[2] The sanctuary is located on Samal Island, about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of Davao City, Philippines. According to Guinness World Records, it is the largest single colony of this kind.

Next stop at HAGIMIT FALLS.

And finally, the MANSION.

It took us more than 3 hours of that tiring but fantastic  tour.  We returned to the resort for lunch and enjoyed the warm water of the beach.

At around 2PM, we left the resort and proceeded to DAVAO CITY and checked in at the hotel.

After we rest for a while, we were on our feet again and headed to the Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague.

We took a walk for about 10 minutes and we had reached the JACK'S RIDGE where we had our dinner at Taclobo Restaurant. It/'s a very nice place, overlooking the whole City.  It's like Antipolo City of Rizal overlooking the Metro Manila.

At Taclobo Restaurant we had tried one of their specialty, the "Inihaw na Buntot ng Bariles" and Sinigang na Lapu-Lapu... wow..

After that wonderful dinner, we transferred to Karlo' Gourmet and Coffee Shop just right  next to Taclobo Resto.  We really enjoyed the scenic view of whole city at night while zipping our Coffee and Durian Shake.

A little past 9PM, we returned to hotel.

 DAY - 2 AUG. 25 2012

At around 8AM, visited the ATENEO DE DAVAO, we just took a glimpse at the campus.  Afterwards back to the hotel.

At the hotel, we just relaxed,  had swimming, enjoyed the warm water of the pool.

Checked Out at Marco Polo Hotel.

And since we were traveling on a shoe string, we transferred to a budget hotel  for another night.  Staying to a Five Star hotel like Marco Polo is really a great experience because of the comfort it offers to their guests.

We moved to Sampaguita Hotel located a few meters away from the PEOPLE'S PARK..

On our way to Sampaguita Hotel, we passed by at Pasalubong Center where we bought our souvenir T-Shirts and other pasalubong items.

Because  of our curiosity, we also bought the "DURIAN PIE".  If you love to eat durian, surely you will also like that pie. But if don't, just take a little bite to know how it is, at least, you have tasted it.

As we continued our journey in discovering the best places to visit at the City of Davao, we visited the place that they called home of the Philippine Eagle and the conservation breeding facility of the Philippine Eagle Foundation, the PHILIPPINE EAGLE CENTER. It is located at Malagos, Baguio District.

From Philippine Eagle Center we went to see SM Davao.

Dinner time. We tried  the YELLOW FIN RESTAURANT, don't know where it is exactly located, we just saw it along the way to Sampaguita Hotel from SM.  Their "ADOBONG BUNTOT NG TUNA" was so good...everyone should try it.

After that wonderful and heavy dinner we returned  to our hotel for some rest to recharge and be ready for the next day's itineraries.

When we were already at the hotel, I decided to go out and find nearby fruit stand that still open by that time (around 8PM) to buy some fruits, luckily, I found one near Marco Polo Hotel. I bought the best fruit produced by the province, the MANGOOSTEEN, MARANG, and the star of them all, the DURIAN.

The once dilapidated PTA ground has now become a city landmark and a major attraction in Davao City.
